Bottom fishing in the bay remains slow for seatrout and flounder but structure such as wrecks and reefs hold plenty of fish. Being there at the right stage of the tide is the key. A recent afternoon/ evening trip with Mike Barnes and his Apple Dumpling Gang proved that out. After a catch of tog we moved and fished for drum and Art Holl boated a 57 pound fish on light spinning tackle. Another move right at the tide change resulted in some big stripers, a 26lb 4oz fish for Capt Jerry and a 28lb 10oz fish for ZZ Top Bob Persch. (And that was after someone told me that stripers were gone.)
Chris Shultz and his group from Dover, Pa. had a limit of big tog with many citations. Mark Anderson and his charter group also had the same success, a limit of large Delaware tog with many citations. Rough seas caused us to cancel an overnight shark trip but conditions in the bay remained fine. Andrew Dubill from Lynchburg, Va. celebrated a bachelor party with fishing trip for a group of good friends and came home with a good catch of tog.
