Tog fishing has been the target species since the last report. We have been fortunate to continue to catch some black drum fish, triggerfish and sheepshead to keep things interesting. The number of sheepshead around is more than we have ever seen. The state record was broken on October 22nd at 15.5 lbs. On October 24 Alex Levantowsky captured a sheepshead that we had at an even 15lbs on our scale. We made a call in to Lewes Harbour Marina to confirm that the 15.5 was recognized before we bled Alex's sheepshead. Striper fishing will not be to far off as the water will certainly cool off to their liking with this cold front. Two prime Friday dates have come available for anyone interested. November 25 and December 2 have just come available.
Fred Brubaker and friends joined us for a short day of tog fishing and had a good catch of tog along with a nice triggerfish. Pete Melyntk and freinds joined the next morning and conditions were not what they were forecasting so we came right back home. Maurice Wilson and family put together a fair catch of tog sorting thru a bunch of throw backs. The all star crew was back at and put together a great catch of tog along with a couple of nice black drum fish to top things off.
After a couple of days off due to wind Vince Conway and family put together a fair catch of tog after sorting thru several shorts. Jack Hoffman and friends were off to a slow start as the first stop was a bust. We did manage to pick thru many shorts and put together a fair catch to end the day. Ray Fisher and friends put together a nice catch of tog by days end. The all star crew was back for their weekly trip and put together a limit catch of tog to seven pounds. Alex Levantowsky topped things off with a 14.85 pound sheepshead after being bled. Yours truly even got to put a line in as they had five passengers and caught a 11.75lb sheepshead as well. After our best day of October so far Joe Albin and friends were greeted with less than ideal conditions so after a handful of keepers and some shorts we headed mother natures sign and called it an early day.
With our enclosed heated cabin we will be fishing thru Christmas. Don't forget to book you,re 2012 trips early before the best dates are gone. Remember to take the kids fishing!
