We had some good flounder fishing in many locations and some good croaker fishing close to home prior to Hurricane Irene. After the storm things are taking a while to get back to normal but in time they will. The best of the fishing is now in the ocean for the croakers and flounder. We will begin seeing more seabass as the month goes along.
Sam Bednash and freinds had our best keeper ratio on the flounder all year when they just quit biting. We moved to another area and found some real nice croaker and one more keeper flounder. Dennis Fish and freinds joined us next and had an excellant catch of flounder up to 6lbs for Dennis himself. They also had some quality craokers as well. Mark Russel and family had an excellant catch of croakers. Chris Vermesch and family had an excellant half day with plenty of croakers and some nice flounder to top things off. Joe Clifton and freinds joined us with less than ideal conditions and put together a nice catch of croakers. Diana Leone and family had a nice half day with plenty of croakers.
After a trip to Michigan to attend my sisters wedding we returned home to hear about how great the flounder fishing had been the last eight days. Unfortunately the croaker fishing had changed for the worst. We took Gene Julian and family out for a half day trip and did put together a nice catch of craokers but it was not easy. Herb Lammey and freinds joined us the afternoon before Irene and the flounder had slowed down. We wound up with a mixed bag catch of seabass, ling and croakers.
Dick Yohe and crew were our first trip out after Irene and we crushed the large croakers. The guys had all they cared to wind in and were home a little early. John Pierce and family had a great croaker trip as well. The kids had a morning they will not soon forget.
Remember to take the kids fishing!
